Address: Velem, Guba utca 3, 9726 Hungary
Velem is a small authentic village at the border with Austria, at the last slopes of the Alpes. It‘s a ‘dead end‘ village, so really quiet as the road doesn‘t go any further only up to the endless mountains, as you can see on the photo.
By car it’s just 1,5 hours from Vienna or Graz (great for tango), 2,5 hours from Budapest and 1,5 h. from the lake Balaton.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
BY TRAIN
A few good train journey planning websites:
There are direct (sleeper) trains going each night to Vienna from the NL (and stop many cities in Germany) for about 100,- Euro.
https://www.nightjet.com/nl/reiseziele/oesterreich/wien
From Vienna you need to change trains. It takes about 2 ½ hours to the nearby town Szombathely or Köszeg by train, where we can pick you up.
BY AIR
Best international airports in the area are Vienna, Budapest or Bratislava.
From there take a train to Szombathely or Köszeg, it takes about 3 hours.
We can pick you up by car at Szombathely or at the even nearer Köszeg Station. (or from Vienna but that‘s far & costly and we prefer not)
